Just heard the samples on iTunes and already really like My Girl 2, Never Knew Your Name, Leon, Small World and Black and Blue. The rest are growers, I guess. But I really do miss 1978, Crying and Big Time Sister. Hope to find them as a single b-side or on a bonus cd of the album. Concluding, can’t wait to buy the album but the Norton Folgate double still reigns supreme for me personally!
Ordered via Amazon……sounds brilliant….hope Big time sister and 1978 and Can’t keep a good thing down get a release….all stompers and strange they not here????
I have listened to the little bits you get on I-Tunes so many times now, and am so looking forward to this release… The producing sounds fantastic and the songs are incredible… My Goodness it tops a great year for the boys and the fans! I hope you get the recognition from this album that it truely deserves… My personal fav, I think is going to be Circus Freaks…1?!?!
Great songs.
Been to the Amsterdam show last saturday. I want the album on vinyl, so have to wait a little bit. But spotify is hanging on to ouiouisisijajadada all day.
Real gems aspecially Powder Blue.
Fabulous album Fav tracks today are leon and Never knew your name, but whole Album is tops, felt like a kid at christmas yesterday and Im 44!!!!
Did that tw*t from NME actually listen to the album. what a joker…
had it on repeat since yesterday, just brilliant! nothing beats hearing a new album from the best in the biz, cant wait for minehead, cardiff liverpool and brighton matinee gigs lees sax getting nicked has took some of the celebrating down a bit and i pray for swift return.
How someone can say its their best i dont know, never will there be a better album than One Step Beyond. I certainly wont be buying it, not after i met the band whilst they was on Later with Jools Holland in 2009. They say never meet your heros which is such a true statement
This new album is a big moment of honor for me, pure happiness on cable directly down from god! As always! Have presented over one thousand artists on my music blog and Madness is on my peronal top ten list, “The Wizard” is my absolute favourite song.
“How can I tell you” seems to become a lifelong relationship from the first listen – oogah!
Didn’t know what to expect when I bought this but BOY did it put a smile on my face. It is an excellent example of how to keep your fans happy. Can’t wait to here some of these new songs at the Madness weekender. Cheers lads !!
YOU GUYS HAD TO WORK HARD TO PRODUCE A FOLLOW UP TO THE
AMAZING LIBERTY OF NORTON FOLGATE.
WELL THIS ALBUM IS AMAZING I LOVE THE WHOLE ALBUM STAND OUT TRACKS FOR ME ARE HOW CAN I TELL YOU,POWDER BLUE,LEON & MY FAVOURITE TRACK MISERY.
33 YEARS I’VE BEEN A FAN EVERY ALBUM HOLDS A SURPRISE
THEY JUST GET BETTER & BETTER WELL DONE GUYS THE ALBUM IS AMAZING.
ok I listened to the album 5 times already and I’m not crazy. it’s DAMN GOOD! Of course I expect the best but to follow up a modern classic like Norton Folgate is a hard thing to do and it’s been did.
I love this Album, so does my Son who is 6, the age I got into Madness when I first heard and saw the video for Tomorrow’s just another day. Since then I have been hooked!
I love 3 tracks in a row Leon, Circus Freaks and So Alive the best, but its all good.
Madness continue to put a smile on my face and it is so good that my son is taking them into the next generation… you’ll never fade away!
You keep pulling out those tunes guys!.. great album – MY GIRL 2, Never knew your name, Death of a Rude Boy stand head and shoulders above the others – fanastic.
The only real 2 tone/original Madness/ska I get is Death of a Rude Boy – don’t move away too far from your early style guys. Stay true to the early days ska beat. I love you loads but just don’t go down the commercial funky tunes for kids route. Seeing you in Plymouth in a week.
You made me who I am. You were part of my formative years and I wouldn’t of had it any other way!.. I’m so glad you’re there…stay true – and don’t forget I’ll always carry your bags if you need someone – just give me a call
Hi to the nutty boys you were brilliant as usual at brighton on saturday night great mix of old and new songs and what a result WEST HAM 3 CHELSEA 1 good hay SUGGS Merry christmas to you all and see you again next year !!
Wow, oh lordy!……this album is the BUSINESS! Love it loads – can’t stop playing it since finally getting hold of it at Xmas. I thought Liberty Of Norton Folgate was going to be one of the toughest acts to follow, but this new set is just as WONDERFUL and addictive. Short sharp snappy tunes that leave you wanting more….
Of course, Norton Folgate was a MADnificent achievement – and a lot of folk will always try to compare this newie to the previous one, but the way I see it is that it’s not just an equally alluring sibling to the last, but another progression…… the songs are even more fully formed and jawdropping. Shows just how the boys have not lost their knack for crafting top notch pop tunes, when most of their contemporaries have basically lapsed into cabaret / karaoke mode.
The preview of the album on itunes is stunning. I think this could possibly be the best Madness album yet!
uau! Here’s a preview. it sounds great Black and Blue!!
