Hello. Chrissy Boy here, back where I belong.
Send me a question and I’ll answer it.
Within reason. Nothing about “when's the next gig” please. That’s in the bit called “gigs” on the main page at the top. If you want to just say hello to any of us, please feel free to post a comment.
Thanks CB x

reading music

March 25th, 2012 by Chrissy Boy

CB – I play tenor sax in a ska band here in the States, nothing fancy, just a few friends looking for something to do. Two Madness songs in our (short) set right now (OSB and NBC, but I plan on adding In The City this week). ANYWAY – here’s the question: Does everybody in the band read music or do some play by ear? My guess is that it started off with more ear players, but after Liberty I can’t image you’re not all writing scores.
Cheers,

Dear Charles
None of us can read music very well. I can’t at all, I think Bedders can, maybe Woody, Mike can a bit and Thommos just a bit. I have a tune I work out the chords and with stuff like Logic to write it in it’s quite easy. Logc can print scores too.

“Mike can a bit”!?! I thought he was a classically trained pianist?
